You noted that the leak was not a gasket. It sounds like the oil is coming
from somewhere where a specific amount of oil is stored, and as soon as
something stops withthe engine, that specific amount of oil is released. You
replaced the oil pump--but that sounds like the area where that amount of oil
might be stored. How about the oil pump gasket itself? You might check that.
Also, did you use gasket sealing compound to be sure all the possible (and
probable) imperfections were sealed?
Just trying to sleuth it out.
