Supposedly adamsconsulting@mindspirng.com is sitting on some Vandervell
bearings.

Here's some words on bearings from John Kipping from a few posts of his

Simple answer, I don't know. It depends how the bearing surface material is
attached to the steel backing, Glacier ones which are totally useless (a G in a
square box on the backing) have soft aluminium material pressed on, this is
very prone to coming off rendering the crank and main bearing cap badly scored.
By far the best material is copper coloured which is what later Vandervall ones
are and decent repro ones - when Glacier took over Vandervall they decided to
only make the s*** they had been supplying as aftermarket quality and stop
making the "better that original" Vandervall, (accountants I presume), and then
ignore any complaints. Federal Mogul who bought Glacier as part of AE carried
on making c*** - I had seven sets of Glacier thrusts fall out in reconditioned
engines (all with different circumstances), guess how many they paid any
compensation for. I never had a set of copper colored ones fall out.

For the rear thrust washer only fit either a Vandervall one (VP in a box on
the steel backing) or a copper coloured one - all other ones are dangerously
defective. Vandervall mains have been remade, for Vandervall big ends
(actually Glacier lead coppers) use the ones for the diesel engine version
of the MGB engine. Alternatively use the Heavy Duty version of the Israeli
made King bearings - Canley Classics appears to sell them at around #20 a
set (getting on for $40 at present), they are identified in their price list
by putting OE (for original equipment) at the end of the part number - mains
  are RTC1753OE, big ends RTC1754OE.
