Bill, if this is a relatively new header from Moss (and probably all of the
suppliers sell the same one), be warned that I had one a couple years ago
that was just plain built wrong - the plate that attaches to the head was
welded on in the wrong position, leaving the gasket totally unsupported in
a couple locations. It would last about two weeks before blowing. I gave up
and went back to stock. Unfortunately it was so long between when I bought
it and when I figured out what was going on that I had no recourse with
Moss, though I did tell them about it.
Going back to stock did noticeably blunt high rev performance of my engine,
but I have a small bearing 1296 that is far more willing to rev than a
1500. Low end torque was noticeably better with the stock manifold though.
I really want one of the 4-2-1 headers that Ted Schumacher sells, but it is
not in the budget this year. That should be the best of both worlds.
