I second the idea about loosening the gearbox mounting.

I loosened all the exhaust mountings so that the intermediate pipe could
move back and forth freely - then did up the downpipe bolts *real* tight
(I hate that teeth shivering eeek noise they make) - then did up the
exhaust mountings. I've never actually had an exhaust mounting though.

Mine went over the summer when I was doing lots of commuting, but didn't
go after this....

Hasn't blown yet....
