If you will recall, I'm the one that blew two Spitfire engines and was
thinking it may be related to running with unleaded. Well, last weekend
Mark E from this list dropped by my house and we took one of the engines
apart. What we found is not for the squeamish, the #1 cylinder had
sucked both valves, with piston parts scattered throughout the oil pan.
On my desk right now, I have a nice little piston with a valve firmly
embedded in it, quite the conversation piece.

we found. I'm not sure what caused this to happen, but it's nice to
know that it's recoverable.
