As I read your email, my imagination suddenly returned to a cool summer
evening in Springfield, Ohio when my flight instrunctor said nearly the same
thing to me. I will never forget the feeling of freedom. I eventually
became a fight instructor too and remember saying those same words to my
students. I wonder who first spoke the words, "I can't take it any more, go
fly by yourself"
That was a wonderful year for me in 1969. I soloed, bought a Spitfire and
graduated from high school. Thanks for bringing back those wonderful
memories.

destination(right- go off that end or the runway, turn about the pattern,
come back on that end of the runway) but I- by myself- taxied out, took off-
climbed-flew a pretty good pattern- descended- and LANDED- not once, but
three times! Even the fact I had to go to work afterwards failed to annoy me
today. I have now, officially, had my first solo, and I am happy. :)
