At $38 what you bought was a composite gasket. Solid copper head
gaskets cost upwards of several hundred dollars normally.

Actually I paid $38.00 for my "copper" gasket from TRF in August,
2002, if
you can possibly refer to any written article about the reuse of a
"copper"
gasket I would like to read it, never seen any in print that I know
of,
especially the heating of a head gasket for reuse. "FT"
