Dave, I used the "Bumper and Trim" spray paint from Pep Boys. I removed the
bumpers, buffed them down with brass wool, painted them with a coat of
primer and two coats of the Bumper and trim paint. I've had to repeat the
final coat at least once a year, as the paint tends to crack and peel off at
the stress points (near the mounting bolts). Next time, no primer.
PS. My 80 Spit was Carmine red, once.

Has anyone had any good luck in finding a really great paint finish for the
80's rubber bumpers. Mine look a bit "tired," no scratches or anything, but
the tone seems a little faded in some areas, and spotty. The typical
silicone
sprays and dressings work ok, but they seem to fade fairly quickly.I was
hoping to find a real good finish that matches the dark grey real well and
goes on easy and looks original.
