Brake Master Cylinder

Guys (and gals),
Has anyone out there discovered any tricks while bench bleeding a brake
master cylinder? This weekend I hope to put on a new one and was hoping to
avoid getting brake fluid everywhere and/or messing up a freshly painted
support bracket.
