was that the Lyle? I realized after I sent my message that I was thinking
of a head spring compressor. THat's the craftsman one I have. My
suspension spring compressor is a Lyle I picked up at Parts USA (The NY Pep
Boys Express). Cost about $50, but was worth it. It uses U-bolts instead
of hooks to prevent any chance the spring might dislodge itself. And you
can change the ubolts depending on the size of the spring being compressed
which adds versatility.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I found the MacPherson strut tool
offered
by Pep Boys did the job. Thanks to the lister who suggested it!
