Have the engine warm rather than cold or hot. The reason is that as the 
engine heats up the bolts will be looser. I won't recommend hot because then 
when cool down occurs the torque will be greater than desired. Yes, do loosen 
them before re torqueing. Follow the proper bolt torque sequence listed in 
the repair manual you have. After the re torque be sure to readjust your 
valves to the proper spec for your car. Then readjust everything else for 
tune and time.
