Glad to hear Lotus is planning to treating you lot to the Elise - it's a superb
car! For such a light-weight car it is stunningly strong, as it is made of
aluminium extrusions bonded (i.e. glued) together. You should see the
aluminium tub - it is a work of art in it's own right! So hopefully crash
testing should passable.

1612 kg? Light? I don't think so! I know that you probably meant 612 kg.
Rumor has it that Lotus may start selling the Elise over here. Biggest
problem will be getting it (or any other light weight car) through crash
testing. With all the SUVs and large lorries we have here, small cars and
motorcycles are easy prey. ;(
