I've had dealings with Motorhead, and none of it was good.

I tried to take advantage of their fake sale on used parts by the ton. Went
there at the agreed time, and they refused to sell. Kept telling me to come
back some other day. Didn't matter to them that I was there at the time they
wanted me there, they had *no* intentions of selling me the used parts they
claimed to be wanting to get rid of.

I had with me another fella who was there to pick up an order he'd placed with
them. They didn't have the parts they told him they had, didn't hold any parts
they'd had like they'd said, refused to ship them to him *if* they got them in.
 He to was sorely disapointed.

We also observed some of the cars that they were selling as mint condition
restorations and such. A 12 year old with a bucket of bondo and a butter knife
could do a better job then they did. Rusted out hulks described as
"immaculate", etc. If it ever had a roll bar on it, it was a "competition race
special" or such.

While I was there, I enjoyed listening to one of their mechanics explaining to
a customer that the reason his car (TR6 as I recall) leaned was because he
needed their specially built shocks. Not that a spring had collapsed, or that
the frame was bent, but bad shocks.

Watching them work was equally fascinating, as they'd toss wrenches several
feet onto the hood or trunk of a nearby car that was pressed into service as a
work bench.

Personally, I'd rather let WallMart rebuild my LBC then let MotorHead near it
to pump up my tire.

It's time to get a major rebuild done on the 72 Spitfire. One of the
contenders to do the
work is Motorhead in Fairfax VA.

Does anyone have experience dealing with them? Any and all iinputs are
appreciated.
Respond off line to frandrum@voicenet.com if you wish.
