Well, I'm a relatively recent comer to the list. I won't comment about
off-topic list traffic, except to say that I found it necessary to switch
to digest mode because of the relatively high volume of the list. While
this is a nice solution to the problem of having my mailbox overflow, and
allows me to quickly identify the mail by subject line, it does raise
another issue: quoting.

As a matter of good form and netiquette, I would like to ask folks who are
replying to posts on the list to only quote the relevant parts of the
message they are replying to. Because many e-mail clients are configured
by default to quote entire messages when you hit the "reply" button, many
folks frequently quote quite a bit, often when it's completely
unecessary. You can well imagine how bad this gets any time there's an
exchange of several emails...and every (often lengthy) response gets
added. For those of us reading the digests, it becomes a frightening
chore to scroll through the messages. Please only quote what you really
need to. You might find it easier to not quote by default.

Thanks,

Scott
