Yep. I installed a set of Dan Gurney Indy style alloys on my 65 Spit
that I got off of a TR7 in a junk yard ($50 for the set). They bolt
right on! I also retrieved the larger TR7 studs. (Use the rears, as the
fronts have a different neck size). The studs fit the Spit hubs and
take a larger nut.
Beware that the offset/inset of the wheels may not be correct. As the
correctness of the offset of the ones I retrieved was unknown, I cannot
say as to whether the specified TR7 offset is correct for the Spit. Yet
the wheels fit under the fenders, barely, with 185-70's. Its a mix and
match, and possibly miss proposition. But your chances are good.
