James,

It sounds like your problem might be caused by a number of things. First of
all, 1" pot-holes. There is no known short-term cure for this, although
occassionally they go away for anything up to 10 years. But rather than wait
for this to happen, it's best to try to avoid them.

Next is corners. These are totally unavoidable, and most drivers choose to slow
down for them in order to avoid the problems you're finding, or worse. Of
course, the alternative is to always drive in a staight line. I tried this once
when I was 17, and discovered that it had the unfortunate side-effect of causing
the car I was driving to be written off by the insurance company (don't worry -
it wasn't an LBC!)

The final clue as to the "weird handling" is rain. Although this can be avoided
by occassional drivers, most regular drivers simply ignore it. The more
skillful drivers slow down a bit more than usual for corners, and leave bigger
gaps to the car in front, although experience proves that this is not absolutely
necessary, depending how much you value the "no claims" bonus on your insurance.

If you follow this advice, you'll find that your handling problems will
disappear. Then you'll sell all your LBCs and start driving a Volvo or
something.
