Subject: Spitfire Valuation?
I am new to the list and appreciate finally finding a forum to discuss
all things Spitfire with others that appreciate them. Previous LBCs I
have owned include a '57 TR3, '70 GT6+ and a '74 Spitfire 1500.
With all the talk of insured value, etc., I am wondering if anyone might
have a realist idea of what a car like mine might be worth.
I have a '79 CA spec Carmine Red with NOS tan houndstooth interior, new
seat foams, O/D, hardtop, no rust ever anywhere (!), 90k miles, new top,
rebuilt suspension all around, new clutch, new water pump and hoses, new
bottom end bearings and thrust washers, new muffler, header and a few
other bits. The car can use a good paint job as the paint is pretty
faded and there are a few dings, etc. It also needs a dash pad or
cover.
What I am getting at, I guess, is that I am considering selling the car.
It occurs to me that now that it is mechanically well and I don't have
much time to drive it, perhaps I should pass it on to someone who could
really enjoy it. It looks a little sad every day when I pass it by to
drive my Audi to work...
