Smog Numbers Lower Mainland BC Canada!
Who says california is the toughest in the world!!

Our smog tests are based on arbitrary values determined by politicians. For
pre'67 cars they
chose the 1967 standards as the basis (even though they are high. For 67-95
they used the US federal standards until January 1999 - California Standards
since then. On Jan 1 2000 these are being reduced by 25%, with further
reductions in 2002 and 2005 another 50%. This means that we will likely need
to modify
original vehicles in order to comply!
All passenger vehicles (not commercial) are tested regardless of age.
Automatic fail if blue/black smoke is detected
Automatic fail if any emission devices are missing (they dont have to work
if the test passes!!??)

On the 1966 they tried to find an air pump and catalytic converter - On the
1963, they tried to fail me
because the rocker shaft vents go directly to the air filters (no valve) and
they couldn't find an egr valve!
