Not to worry. The commission plate on my '79 is also mounted on the door
jam and not under the bonnet. Most of the Spitfires I have seen have them
mounted on the door jams.

Hi all-
I have a '75 spit, and had a question about the commission plate location.
The commission plate on my car is located on the inside rear of the door
frame, just below the latch mechanism. I know from the various catalogs I
have seen that the commission plate should be under the bonnet on the
drivers side. I don't have anything in this location except two rivets where
the commission plate should be, and the body number plate just below that.
Has anybody ever heard of the commission plate being in the door frame?
I was thinking of moving it back to the "proper" location, but wanted to be
sure that it's current location was not "factory".
I thought you guy's (and gal's) would appreciate a simple, non-mechanical
question for a change of pace ;-)
