Gee, that sounds like gas from a Marathon station. No matter what the
octane my Spitfire would really "sputter, choke, and cough". That was back
in Michigan. I haven't seen any Marathon stations here in Oregon.

Last week I had no gas and not much money $2.00 exactly. Pulled
into an ok station and got regular 89octane. As soon as I went to pull
out my car lost power and was misfiring. Made it all the way home and
drained the gas thinking that was the culprit. Got some good higher
octane stuff, still no change. At idle it only runs on the cylinders
4,5,and 6. Checked for spark on cylinders 1,2, and 3 and there was
spark. At higher revs the first 3 cylinders kick in but the car still
runs like crap. I've narrowed it down to the front carb, I think. Any
idea what happened?
Thanks
Tom
