Help Listers,

I can't seem to get a handle on tunning my SU2's. I've set the dwell
to what Haynes recommends (can't remember off the top of my head) and
all parts are new in the ingnition. Here's the senario,
accelleration is somewhat doggy and not near what I would have
expected. However when I let up on the gas pedal there is a
momentary surge of power and it seems to want to accelerate. By
adjusting the carbs the way the book says everything seems to be
fine. But when I put the air cleaners (new ones) on it wants to idle
down real quick and almost dies before I pull them back off. At this
point I increased the mixture to each carb by about 4 flats on the
jet adjusting nuts. Then putting the covers back on there is no
noticeble drop in idle speed. It is running better after my second
round of adjustments than after the first but the doggyness is still
there.

Any ideas or suggestions out there?

TIA
