| Actually, I need to correct myself. :-x
Upon further research, I have discovered that I accidentally referenced
Superchip-based B9B and B9B1 images (which command more spark than factory) in
my original post. Once I obtained the correct factory binaries, I was able to
confirm that there are ZERO differences in the spark programming for the
49-state V6 MTX calibrations.
We now return you to your regularly-scheduled programming.

  Adam,
Later Gen1s also used the B9B 'puter. I assume this applies to them as
  well?
This would certainly make it easier for the X2J cars to run on lower
octane fuel than the earlier cars.

The '89 B9Bx program also commanded an average of 6 degrees more spark
advance than did it's younger '92-'95 X2J brother, which might account
for some of the '89 SHO's added "quickness" over it's younger siblings.

I'd tend to agree - esp the white Plus.
(OF course the '89s were the fastest, and unburdened by those pesky
  ABS brakes and air bags.)
