I forgot to mention that Google and Alibre offer free downloads of 
full-function 3D CAD programs. Google's is at 
http://sketchup.google.com/ and Alibre's is at 
http://www.alibre.com/xpress/ As best as I can tell, Alibre's is the 
most fully featured of all the free 3D cad tools.
