a synchronous inverter, which is used in grid-tied systems, requires
a 60 hertz signal from the power company in order that its power
matches the phase and frequency of that in the lines already. So when
the power goes out around the PV equipped home, that home loses power,
too. No free lunches with your subsidized system :-)
