I have a parts washer using Agitene. I just cleaned it last week for
the first time in a couple years and it was pretty cruddy. 1" of
crap on the bottom of the tank - kept having to poke out the drain
hole and the agitene is black from the dissolved crud. I've decided
I'd like to filter the fluid - something a little better than the
crap filter Northern includes with their unit.
The commercial option seems to be the "big sock with a hose" type
where you plug the nozzle into the hose and let it run for a couple
hours. The media in the sock filters the fluid and it seeps out of the sock.
My idea is to do an auto oil filter remote hookup and put it in -line
with the nozzle hose. I figure I can get an oil filter hookup at the
u-pull-it on the cheap. Some oil resistant hose, a couple hose
clamps and barb fittings. Stop by Pep Boys for some large diesel oil
filters and prest-blammo - clean Agitene.
I was wondering if anyone out there has tackled this issue and what
their results have been. I'm thinking the commercial units should do
a better job of filtering out the oil and grease in the fluid than a
regular oil filter would but the Graymills SolventSaver filter bags
are $100 for a 2 pack.
Also, what's a better "pre-filter" than the el-cheapo spun
fiberglass-HVAC style that comes with the unit.
