Best to use mfr nameplate ratings where possible, allow for motor 
startup current where appropriate, and bear in mind the National 
Electrical Code assumes certain load values per 'utility' outlet and 
mandates dedicated circuits for some types of equipment so you might 
want to research the assumptions in whatever code applies to you before 
doing too much calculation.
