topic?

Absolutely not. No more so then warnings about no customer serviceable
parts inside. Yet many of us take apart and repair our microwave ovens
and such quite successfully. In spite of warnings from the manual that
it cannot be done.

Which is why no product recall has ever existed. The designers know
their product completely, and have resolved all issues with it, and
there will never be any problem of any type with any product ever made.

Isn't that absurd? Of course it is. The design engineers do *not*
have an absolute knowledge. Never have, never will. Having worked as a
mechanical engineer in a power tool research lab, I can say that with
quite a bit of confidence.

You would be appalled at how little many of those design engineers know
about their product.

Wrong. Engineers do not write that manual. The manual is written by
marketing, blessed by the lawyers, and sent out.

Fwiw, the single weight oil recommendation does in fact have to do with
thermal breakdown resulting from the high heats of an air cooled engine.
Synthetics, have an even higher temperature range then conventional
single weight oils. As such, a multi-weight synthetic exceeds the
manufacturers recommendations.
