   I left mine plain plywood and have not noticed any problems.  A friend 
however did blow almost halfway through the back over the course of 2 years 
and we put up a piece of sheet metal on the back.

  He tends to place the piece he is working on against the back of the 
cabinet to hold it up while blasting.  My cabinet is too deep (32") for 
that to be comfortable so my parts are laying down on the grill when I 
blast them.  The "resist" idea that was just posted is pretty good one though.
