How about just making a little "trailer" for the tractor that had a ball
on top?  That way the tounge weight would go directly down and the tractor
would just need to worry about moving the rolling weight (and, like
someone else mentioned, I think your biggest problem would be having
enough nut to turn corners with a multi-axle trailer).
