Nolan's rule for calculating cost is similar to mine...
John's Rules of Cost Estimation.....
1. Using your experience and expertise....Closely estimate the amount of
time, money, tools (don't forget NEW tools) and supplies you will need for
the task....
2. Take the estimated amount of each from Step 1 and double it.....
3. Tell your wife it will take twice the amount calculated in step 2
4. Prepare to spend 50% more than that when completed... if you're lucky
