Floor jacks

I have been thinking of replacing my Sears floor jack with a Norco 71230
recommended here a while ago. While looking on the web for information, I
found a description of the Norco's handle in which they described its 90
degree arc. Since I want to get way under a low car, I wonder whether it has
to go all the way up to 90 degrees to pump or if it can work with the handle
restricted to a lower angle.
