Yesterday while the list was on the subject of head gaskets, I had a
question that is
probably better posed to another list, but I would like to try and take
advantage of the
collective wisdom of this group.
While preparing to reassemble the head on my Triumph, the new head gasket
I have is metallic on both sides. On one side however, it also has a
felt/cloth type covering. Does the metallic part mate with the head and the
cloth covering
part mate with the block? Any clues on why it was made this way?
