Just wondered if anyone had a better idea?

The problem:

The rear brake adjuster was seized on one rear wheel of my R-type
(with shoes locked on, the drum would not come off, I do not know
what is causing that problem - yet!) so, after gallons of penetrating
fluid, I tried to persuade it off.

Yes, the obvious; the adjuster snapped like a carrot, alas in
between 'clicks'. The result is that the rear drum is now well and
truly jammed.

Best attempted solution I have thought of so far:

I wondered if the drum could be released if I undid the nuts securing
both the expander assembly and that of the mechanical actuator and
tapped them inside the drum?

All ideas gratefully received!

George
