Hallo,
Connolly Bros at Wimbledon in the UK, the long-tome supplier to Rolls-Royce and
others, sell a "Restoration Kit", including the wipe-on dye. I prefer a more
liquid dye which you spray on to stop any streaking, and with the right
low-volatility thinner it soaks into the hides. Then use anhydrous lanoline
liberally, followed by Conolly's Hide Food to keep it soft.
Although I have always used the original Connoly hides for my cars (bought
coloures to the original Blue Vaumol colour), I have successfully matched the
leather grain and thickness on a friend's car with local leather. Painting with
leather dye then produced a 100% result.

I did my own. When I was re-doing the leather on a 58 Cadillac. the
grain was very difficult to match so I bought matching hydes, stripped
the color off, and re-dyed to the blend of color I needed. I sprayed
the color on. I bought my leather and dye supplies from a company in
Phoenix that deals with shoe stores. Years ago when I was bringing
Rolls Royces into the USA, I would have the leather re-furbished by a
company in London called Conolloy Bros. They had the dyes/colors in
cans and wiped it on the leather. I don't know how difficult it would
be to get some of this, but I hope this information helps you.
