Hey all, I started playing with the 51 again. I started trying to get the
TCI 4 link set in place and if it is not one thing it's another. I have a 70
GM 12 bolt rearend that I welded the 4 link brackets on back in Feb. I had to
force the bolts through the link bushings and it was tight. I know the
drill...measure and remeasure. Well I hate to admit it but, I welded in the
brackets 36" center, they should have been 35" center.

Hey Steve, I had the very same problem with my '58 and a TCI 4 link. The
only difference was I had a local welding shop do the work, and they put them
on wrong. I gave them the choice of cutting them off and rewelding them on,
(as long as they would be strong, and look neat) or ordering new ones. They
had a plasma cutter, and was able to cut them off very nicely and reweld them
on the right place. If you have a plasma cutter, or have a local shop that can
do the work, I would suggest that route. A plasma cutter does a lot neater
job, and takes less material out, than a regular cutting torch does.
I would be afraid of adding any extra brackets to your frame, or modifying
what TCI has engineered. It's always better to take a step back, and do it
right, then to take a short cut, and still end up redoing it later.

Hope this helps some. Good luck.
