Ed,

What did you find about earlier trucks? As far as I know, the TF
trucks use the same style latch as the later AD trucks, where the
locking is done by an additional movement of the inside door handle.

I have spent several hours trying to devise a way to activate my '52
AD lock with a typical door look actuator as found in the common kits.
They don't have enough power or enough travel to move the handle. I
believe one would have to use commercial actuators from industrial
suppliers, which cost mucho bucks. The task requires maybe 25 lbs
minimum force and about 1-1/2" travel. Typical lock actuators have
8-12 lbs of force, with one manufacturer claiming 15 lbs maximum force
(but I'm suspicious of that figure) and 7/8" travel.

I am now building auxiliary locking mechanisms for my '52. They will
use the "15 lb" actuators from electric-life.com, and will extend a
1/2" pin through the door jamb into the door using a bellcrank. They
will be installed at the rear, and I will run an emergency release
cable through the floor in one rear cab corner. They will be
remote-controlled by a keyfob from the outside, and operated by
switches in each door from the inside.

If anyone else has any ideas, I'd like to hear 'em.
