When I was 20 the fact that the old 49 ford was as loose as a goose in the
steering department was not a problem, in fact it made it more fun. Now that
I'm
married with a family some of those abilities to adapt to less than perfect
conditions have eroded, and so far, all 20 minutes of driving it around the
block, has put knots in my shoulders and fear in my heart. The front end was
put
on a wait and see list beyond repacking the bearings and replacing the fluid
in the steering box. There is no obviously unwanted movement in the linkage or
wheels. So can you 'come over' and give me your expert advice? Probably should
replace everything and be done with it but good is good and new doesn't
always mean better. Except for driving it around the block yourselves
responding to
this will be a challenge. Thanks, Brooks
