What is happening is that you have a minor case of OldTimers disease.
The steering box on my 57 is inside the frame.

Hey guys, I was just looking at my truck and I noticed the steering box is on
the inside of the frame and in the engine compartment area, from what I
thought the 1955 steering boxes were all on the outside of the frame? What
the hell is going on?
