I don't think the whole frame needs to be boxed for the Mustang II
conversion. The boxing plates supplied in the kit will provide adequate
support. It's the Hp that you intend to install that dictates what
preventative measures need to be taken at the rear of the frame to prevent
stress cracks or worse. I've had a V8 in my AD since 1976 and when I
doubled the horse power 4 years ago I went a head a boxed the back section
of the frame behind the cab and added a few extra cross members. I am also
considering an upgrade to a 4-link next winter but I'm kind of holding back
since theirs nothing wrong with my leaf springs suspension. Several months
ago I converted my Mustang II coil spring suspension to Air Ride and have
the lines ran to rearend for bags but haven't decided "leafs and bags or
4-link and bags".
