I am currently welding new "kick panels" (inside side cowlings) into my 50
Deluxe and the only problem I can see with mounting speakers there is the
support that is welded inside the kick panel. Its about an inch and a half
wide and is about center of the kick panel horizontally and goes all the way
around in an arch to the firewall. Its still possible, just gotta be careful
not to make a hole and then find out you are in the exact wrong place. Also,
the "damage" you are doing in cutting a hole there is not easily fixable.
For me, placing it in the rear cab corner will sound about the same without
doing any permanent damage. Hope this helps.
