Had the same problem, solved by installing a flex-o-lite fan.

Subject: [oletrucks] 235 swap
Help!
I finally got my 235 back from the rebuilder today. The first thing I
did was to install the special short shaft water pump from Jim Carter.
Well the pulley on the waterpump sticks out about 1 in. farther then the
crank pulley. Did I miss something when I checked the archives on the
216 to 235 swap? Is there a chance the crank pulley was not reinstalled
correctly or can it be adjusted somehow?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
