Wally, I think you'll do fine if you get some 1/8" masking tape and
carefully tape around the borders of the letters.  Then either paint by
hand, or do a little more masking and spray the contrasting color for a real
nice finish.  Unless your hand's real steady, you'll goof if you don't tape
the margins.
