[oletrucks] inner fender staples

I'm stripping down a set of inner fender wells, and I notice the gaskets
between them and the fenders were held by large staples.  Does anyone know
whether these are necessary, and if so, how to go about getting
replacements?  I don't think my office stapler is up to this job.
