While my '50 is at the paint shop, I brought the chrome grille home to clean
up and polish, and found some pretty bad rust on the back side. It hasn't
rusted through, but needs to be stopped soon. Short of grinding off all the
rivets and taking all the pieces apart, how can I get the rust off? Can't
really get to it with a wire wheel, so is sandblasting a good choice?
Should I have this done, or is the rental equipment something that would
work on sensitive metal?

Once I get the back side rust free, I plan to treat with a rust retardent,
then apply a heavy coat of spray on bed liner. Any thoughts?

Thanks-

Smokey Culver
