Hi all!
Was hoping that maybe some of you guys with better knowledge of this
kind of stuff can let me borrow some gray matter. This is my problem.When I
bought this truck the po said it was a '51. The title also says it's a '51,
however the doors have wing vents but also have push button handles( didn't
realize that this was an identifying factor in the early stages). The bed
had nine boards but I'm under the understanding that somewhere in '51 they
changed from 8 to 9 so that could go either way.
While trying to find the #'s on the door post I discovered that some
psyco with a spray gun painted over the tag. The only thing I could do was
to identify some stamped #'s on the tag. The numbers H53K 16850. According
to the restoration guide this is a '53, built in Kansas City, and it's the
15850th one built that year. But what is the "H" for.
Also did I get a '51 with a '53 cab. If so is this going to be a problem
with the Neo-DMV Nazis? Or am I reading all this wrong and I've actually got
a '51 with '52+ doors? Is there any other way to tell the year besides the
door tag.
Besides the DMV Nazis I'll have to change my sign off. Please help!!!!
