Hi Gerry,
Glad to hear you made it back with few problems.
My Morgan has the same engine as your TR. I have been using
Chevron Delo for diesel engines with zddp (zinc phosphate), either
multi grade or single grade since the oil companies removed zddp to
please
the big three without warning so catalytic converters in new cars would
live longer.
I also use.... Are you ready? STP that has zddp in it. Flat tappet
engines should be using something with this additive and with
EVERY OIL CHANGE.
Never mind what they tell you about just for break-in mileage only.
OR you can replace the cam and tappets along with the bearings,
oil pump, etc. as you will start getting metal flakes in the oil
and that gets pumped everywhere.
The TR engine should rev. to 6000 without problems with stock rods.
Beyond that you need Carillo or some other racing rods and unless
the engine has been really tweeked to make power above 6000 you
should be fine. Speaking of being fine, it seems we have an incomplete
sentence (see red type below).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Wendell
