Hey Charles,

Guilt should not be an option. I bought my TR-6 off the showroom floor
in 73. For many many many years it was my daily driver, in truth my only
car. It's been in NYC, and to Key West, it got me from Chicago to Santa
Barbara, CA in 76, it's been 200+ miles into Baja and as far north as
Wash. State. Just chalked up 322,000 miles last week. Since 73 have only
owned the TR a GT-6 (for a very short time), a Series III Jag and my
current partner to the TR a 98 VDP. All have been maintained to the best
of my ability. Considering what kind of energy and materials usage it
takes to build a new car and added to that the cost of recycling that
car in the end and you've got a heap of consumption of resources. As an
Environmental Biologist by education and having worked in the Enviro
Compliance field for 24 years now I believe that I have made a
contribution to keeping a green profile. Simply by not insisting on
having a new car every year or 2 I have conserved resources.

As to our animated, illustriously eccentric, slightly bent Steve I offer
this. (Love you anyway Steve) He is who he is. He is certainly a unique
individual. Most significantly though, he was the driving force along
with the more sedate Ron that brought NOBBC into being. A previous girl
friend of mine (Jan Shapan) spotted him driving around his 4-A with a
NOBBC banner and took down the phone #. That brought me into the
picture. Jan set up the original NOBBC website, I started talking about
NOBBC with some local LBC (Little British Cars for the uninitiated)
vendors in Sonoma County and soon the word got around. The rest is
history! So a little patience with Steve if you all please. His heart is
in the right place. Let's not be so thin skinned folks, live and let
live. As for unsubing of course that is anyone's prerogative. Keep in
mind though, we all wouldn't be getting together on a regular basis
except for Steve. His enthusiasm while at times over the top was an
essential factor. And if we are only here to discuss our cars I'm afraid
I am going to become bored very quickly.

Hi Steve,

My name is Charles and I drive a 58 mga. Haven't made it out to a
NOBBC event as I am expecting my first child any day now. It sounds
like you are very opinionated about environmental issues. It may be
sarcasm, but I thought I would try to connect. The environment is what
forced me out of LA and into Sonoma Co. I am working on a Hydrogen On
Demand system to supplement the dino fuel in the MG. Just wondering if
you know of anyone doing that around here. I do love my MGA after
spending 5 years on the frame off resto, but I notice I feel much less
guilty driving my Prius. So the HOD system is my solution to have the
best of both worlds. A (terrible) photo of my car is attached. Perhaps
after I have a bit more free time, the group can do a garage visit of my
project. I have been talking with Ron about that.

Cheers,
Charles
