Over a year ago I purchased an Optima battery for my everyday truck and
have been very pleased with the performance. The construction of the
battery is such that it never needs to have water added (gel construction)
and consequently it cannot freeze even if without a charge. It can also
be mounted in any direction . . . on end, upside down, etc.

I believe Optima was bought out by another company, maybe Interstate or
Exide. They are available in 6 volt also but their size might require
some mounting changes.

You can check out their web page for further information at:

Good luck, Jim
