Just returned from Indianapolis .... had a great time. It rained Fri and Sat.
Kevin Clemmens and Dave Elcombe finally shamed me into running practice in
the rain. Great fun- not scarry as I thought it might be. Beautiful sideways
drifts (one rear wheel), fully controalable... but at 30mph. What a gas. The
straight is a drag strip though and the stuff from the drags made the first
1/8 mile slick as snot. Harry Gaunt's wife spun & crunched her flat rad
there- as did several others throughout the practice sessions.
Race was in the dry & so practice ment nothing... just fun drives in the rain.
First place was an Indy sprint car, then Keven in his TD & then me. SS100
dropped out (he passed me as if I was in reverse, but ya gotta finish to
finish...).
We had four pre-war Morgans there and if you got one in the garage and wern't
there- shame on you...
We had close to $10,000 worth of prices for the pre-war group, including
driver's suit, set of Michlen tyres, entry to One Lap of America, SnapOn
tools, $500 case of fine wine, etc.
Pete Olson was ther without trike, Carlotn Shriver drove from MA.... join us
next year..
