As is the case many times with the debate over creationism vs evolution,
facts are manipulated to concur with a specific theory. While on the surface
it may seem that 4/4 is the longest evolutionary line of the Morgan, when
facts are examined, its lineage is not very pure at all. While the 4/4 in
name appears to have a long line, it is known that it was just a series of
automobiles through lack of originality using the same name.

The family consists of many branches just using the same name. There is the
Coventry Climax family, the Standard Special family, the early ford family,
the Italian in the woodpile (the fiat family) and the later (current ford
family)

Compare this the the pure lineage of the modern (Plus 8 Morgan) the rover V8
family from 68 to the present day. While it is true that the 4/4 and the
plus 8 share the same roots, comparing them on the evolutionary scale would
be like comparing the chimp and modern man.

While the marketplace and the economy may conspire to end the purity of the
+8 family, to date it is the longest running single design in the Morgan
family.
